Players of Final Fantasy XIV should take note of a very important change to their game of choice -- all of the servers within the overall system are set to merge on March 27.
Originally announced within the past month (and re-evaluated within the past week or so), the big switch to a smaller set of servers will take place over the first 19 days of March. During these first few days of the switch, players can freely select any server they would like to play on until that server has reached its manual switchover quota, at which point that server will automatically lock out further manual switchovers. After the manual switch process wraps up, the next Tuesday of the month (the 27th day, in other words) is when the final, automatic switchover will take place based on which server the player is registered at the time of the final switchover if he/she has not previously made a manual switch beforehand.
