Reigning champs of the racing sim genre, Codemasters (also known by the title of their new racing-game publishing sub-division - Codemasters Racing) are back on the scene again with F1 Online, their free-to-play PC take on the bigger, console inclusive version of the licensed sim.

Described as a "fun new free-to-play online racing and management browser game", F1 Online will give you a taste of the good life as a racer in one of the hardest racing leagues in existence.

For petrolheads and pedal-to-the-metal enthusiasts, the news that F1 Online has just switched gears into open beta mode will be a nice surprise. You can now leave your mark on the tarmac amongst thousands of other Formula One fanatics months before the full release of the game.

The beta will let you participate in the Grand Prix tournament as you lead your team to victory, with the customisation of team names, team outfits and your team's emblem all available (on top of the premium level of racing, of course!)
