NCSoft had to deal with an interesting problem the other week as copies of their game, the MMORPG, Guild Wars 2, were selling so fast, that they had to temporarily halt first party sales just so that they could ship more copies to retailers. It's no surprise as just over a week ago MMOFan.com
reported that Guild Wars 2 was leading the UK game chart
, beating out some of the world's most popular console titles for the most sales that week.
At the time of reporting, we could only speculate on the number of copies that had been flying off of shelves but now NCSoft, the publisher of Guild Wars 2, have confirmed that over 2 million copies
have been sold since its release date of the 28th of August.
Mike O'Brien, president and co-founder of ArenaNet, the developer of Guild Wars 2 is confident that the game sales "justified the time and care [the Guild Wars 2 team] put into developing Guild Wars 2 and making it into the game it is today" and that "this is only the beginning. We're continually fine-tuning the game to deliver the polished experience that our players expect, and weÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂre already working on new adventures and experiences to introduce into this truly dynamic online world."Click here
